In the manufacturing process of sheet metal materials tolerances up to 10 percent can occur on the thickness.

In the bending operation with a press brake, the angle is determined by the plunging depth of the upper tool. This means a sheet thickness deviation of 10 percent already leads to an angle deviation of 3 to 4 degrees.

The “D-ASM” sheet thickness measuring system is integrated in the backgauge finger. The D-ASM measures the sheet thickness to an accuracy of +-0,01mm, applicable up to 20mm of material thickness. The measuring cycle takes only tenths of a second, the measured data will be send in real time to the CNC and the bending program will be adjusted.
